The constant demand to remain a reliable source for customers is keeping grocers on edge. In a highly competitive market, grocers have to constantly keep up with ever changing price/value trends in order to remain relevant. Knowing the landscape of your competitive market helps grocers tremendously when marking items and increasing efficiencies across the board. Grocers who are armed with the proper tools to identify inventory, competitively price products, update old technology and maintain labor costs will ultimately win the battle.
Are You Settling for “Good Enough?”
Great leaders don’t become great overnight, rather, there is a constant need to improve. Although luck may play a part, it certainly isn’t the sole reason your top performers are moving into senior management positions. What sets them apart? Desire. Big News for Employers: Obama Proposes Expansion of Overtime
The prospect of boosting wages can ruffle the feathers of businesses that believe such a hike would force them to cut jobs. Their theory may be put to the test, as President Barack Obama has issued a proposal to the U.S. Department of Labor to expand the eligibility requirements for overtime workers. This expansion would raise the minimum salary an employee must receive in order to qualify for overtime pay by more than double what it is today.
Is Your Business SaaS-Savvy?
Once a booming trend, Software as a Service (SaaS) today is a part of everyday business. What is it? Simply put, SaaS is a delivery model in which applications are hosted and managed in a provider’s data center. SaaS can be paid for on a subscription basis and accessed via an Internet browser. While it has been in existence for more than a decade, SaaS has gained momentum in recent years due in part to its unparalleled ability to lower costs and increase efficiencies in the workplace.
Aligning Reality with Message: How to Create a Simple EVP
Creating an employee value proposition (EVP) can be daunting. After all, most companies struggle with the recruiting workload they already have; there is no time or budget to sit down and figure out what an EVP would have to look like to be successful. Add to this the pressure of getting left behind while everyone else is waving from the employee branding train, and it’s enough to make a talent-acquisition pro throw up his or her hands.
Court Ruling Could Change Payroll Tax Requirements for Religious Institutions
As religious congregations attend worship services, the unique payroll tax and HR requirements for clergy and staff may be the furthest thing from their minds. However, away from the pulpit, church leaders wrestle with issues such as whether clergy are self-employed or part of the payroll, how to accurately calculate estimated quarterly taxes and even if the definition of “clergy” is met as it relates to tax reporting.
Corporate Health Insurance Trends You Need to Know
The ever-rising cost of corporate health care is expected to increase by 4.4 percent this year. Couple that rising pressure with hard-fought efforts to maintain compliance with the federal government’s Affordable Care Act, and some employers have chosen to waive benefits, placing more responsibility onto their employees, who pay more both in premiums and out-of-pocket costs.
Moving to the Cloud: A Better Strategy?
In recent years, enterprise content management (ECM) has been handled on-premises; however, the spike in cost and lost data has companies looking to redefine their systems. A shocking 74 percent of organizations have experienced data loss at the workplace; of that number, 32 percent take several days to recover, while 16 percent never do. As companies grow, so should their processes. Keeping track of information on a hard drive is like playing with fire: Huge risks exist, with no guarantee that things will end well.
Pre-employment Testing: Good or Bad?
There is a lot of chatter about pre-employment testing, leaving many organizations asking themselves if there is a benefit to implementing them during the interview process. Should I invest in them? Do you find yourself at this juncture? Well I’m here to debunk any misleading information about them and discuss why, in fact, pre-employment testing can greatly benefit your company.
Are You a 360 Degree Leader?
What does it mean to be a leader? And can anyone be a leader? These are questions I’ve been asked a lot in school, interviews and workshops but until now I didn’t really have a definite answer. Leadership is a complex trait and it’s far more than “guiding a group of people.”
